Place-based mixed reality for Old San Juan

VXOSJ

Immersive tours, cinematic storytelling, and educational AR that help the city reveal its stories in new ways — launching soon.

From curiosity to a city-scale platform for discovery.

VxOSJ is building a collaborative, community-led framework for place-based mixed reality in Old San Juan. The work blends cultural storytelling, tourism utility, education, and partner-driven innovation into a reusable platform that can grow from a single exhibit to a city-wide experience.

A living platform for stories, discovery, and public engagement

Rather than treating augmented reality as a novelty, VxOSJ is developing a layered system of experiences that can guide visitors through the city, transform historic spaces into cinematic stages, and bring environmental learning into immersive indoor environments.

Each project is designed to be useful to visitors, valuable to partners, and scalable across museums, schools, tourism operators, and cultural organizations.

What we are creating

  • Guided discovery for visitors with limited time.
  • Immersive cinematic experiences rooted in historic places.
  • STEM education through flexible, transportable AR exhibits.
  • A reusable platform for future creators and partners.

Three flagship experiences, one shared platform vision.

VxOSJ is turning Old San Juan into a living stage for guided discovery, historical storytelling, and environmental education through layered mixed reality.

Four playable storylines: Drake's Raid, Clifford's Siege, Naval Bombardment, and Fort Brooke

Four playable storylines, one battleground

Guests choose a vantage point and a moment in history — Drake’s Raid (1595), Clifford’s Siege (1598), Naval Bombardment (1898), and Fort Brooke & the First Shots of WWI (1915) — so no two visits play out the same way.

Project 03 — Immersive Education

The Secret Language of Trees

A movable AR exhibit that gives climate science, ecology, and STEM a voice — told through a fictional forest language inside a basketball-court-scale experience.
